Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail
An outdoor nature-reserve in Fermanagh and Omagh District

A stunning 11km (6.8 mile) loop trail through the heart of the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark, culminating in a dramatic boardwalk ascent to the summit of Cuilcagh Mountain (665m). The route crosses blanket bog, passes waterfalls, and ends with panoramic views of Counties Fermanagh and Cavan. The wooden boardwalk protects the fragile landscape and makes the climb more accessible. Highlights: The 'Stairway to Heaven' boardwalk, summit views, blanket bog habitat, and waterfall. Kid-friendliness: Suitable for older children (6+) with good fitness. The trail is 11km (5-6 hours) with a steep, steady climb. Not pushchair-friendly. Young kids may struggle with the length and ascent. Facilities: Car park at Marble Arch Caves (paid), toilets and café at the visitor centre. No facilities on the trail. Dogs allowed on leash. Practical tips: Wear sturdy waterproof footwear and bring layers. Start early to allow time. Check weather – the exposed summit can be dangerous in high winds or fog.
