Roundhay Park is one of the largest city parks in Europe, covering over 700 acres of parkland, lakes, and woodland in Leeds. Families can enjoy two adventure playgrounds (one for under-7s and one for older kids), pedalos and rowing boats on Waterloo Lake, a miniature railway (seasonal), and wide open spaces for picnics and ball games. The Tropical World glasshouse (separate admission) features exotic plants and butterflies. Best for ages 0-18, with something for everyone. Note that Tropical World has an entry fee and can be busy on weekends.

Pack a picnic for better value
Bring your own food and drinks to make the most of the 700 acres. Cafés and kiosks are available but can be pricey for families.

Arrive early to avoid Tropical World queues
Tropical World gets particularly busy on weekends. Visit early in the day if you plan to go inside, or skip it and enjoy free attractions instead.

The main park grounds are open to the public year-round without fixed closing times. Specialist facilities within the park have their own hours: Specialist Gardens 09:00-15:30 daily; Tropical World Cafe 10:00-17:00 (summer) / 10:00-15:30 (winter).
