The Tower Museum is a family-friendly museum located within a historic tower in Derry's city centre. It features two main permanent exhibitions: 'The Story of Derry' which takes visitors on a journey through the city's 1,400-year history, and 'An Armada Shipwreck – La Trinidad Valencera', displaying artefacts from a Spanish galleon that sank off the Donegal coast. Interactive exhibits, hands-on displays, and a film presentation make history engaging for children. Highlights include climbing the original stone spiral staircase for panoramic views (supervised), dressing-up costumes, and discovery trails. Facilities: Café, gift shop, baby-changing facilities, and lift access to most floors (the tower climb is via stairs). Practical tips: Allow 1.5–2 hours. The museum is fully indoors, making it ideal for rainy days. Pushchairs are allowed but the tower climb is not accessible for buggies.
