Who we are

Kidsplorers (kidsplorers.com and the Kidsplorers apps) is run by Sky No Limit in the United Kingdom. We are the controller of your personal data under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). For anything about your data, email [email protected].

Kidsplorers is for parents and carers. Accounts are for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children.

What we collect and why

WhatWhy
Account details: your email address and name, and your profile picture if you sign in with Google or Apple. Your password is stored only as a secure hash.To give you an account and keep it secure.
Family preferences: each child’s birth month and year (never names or full dates of birth), how far you’ll travel, indoor or outdoor, cost, interests, and the days you’re usually free.To suggest places and events that suit your family.
Location: the home location you choose to set, and your current location only when you allow it in your browser or app.To show places near you and work out distances.
Your plans and activity: your agenda (including your own plans and notes), places you’ve visited, favourites, reviews, photos and places you suggest. To keep your agenda and avoid suggesting places you’ve just been to.
Usage: pages viewed, counted without identifying you, and when you last signed in.To understand what’s useful and keep the service running.

We use your data to provide the service you asked for (our contract with you), with your consent (for location), and for our legitimate interests in keeping Kidsplorers secure and improving it.

AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude and others)

You can connect an AI assistant to your Kidsplorers account. Nothing is shared until you approve the connection on our consent screen. Once connected, when you ask it to, the assistant can:

  • see your family preferences, your children’s ages, your home area (never your address or exact location), your agenda, visits and favourites;
  • if you left “Let it make changes” switched on, add to and change your agenda, visits, favourites and preferences.

What we receive from the assistant: only the requests it makes to Kidsplorers, such as “suggest days out this weekend near Richmond” or “add Grandma’s on Saturday”. We never receive your conversation. ChatGPT may send an approximate location (a town or region), which we use only to answer that request.

What the assistant receives from us is handled by its provider (for example OpenAI or Anthropic) under their own privacy policy.

Without connecting your account, anyone can use the assistant to ask for general suggestions. These requests aren’t linked to you, and we keep the answers for up to an hour so the same question can be answered again quickly.

You can see and disconnect your assistants at any time on Connected apps. Disconnecting stops the assistant’s access straight away.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your data. We share it only with the services that run Kidsplorers for us, and only what they need:

  • Hetzner hosts our servers and database in the EU.
  • Cloudflare delivers the website, stores photos and protects the service from attacks.
  • Google and Apple handle sign-in if you choose to use them.
  • Plunk sends account emails, such as verifying your address or resetting your password.
  • Open-Meteo provides weather forecasts. We send it an area’s coordinates, never anything about you.
  • AI assistant providers (such as OpenAI or Anthropic) receive what you ask your connected assistant to look up.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and everything in it: until you ask us to delete your account. We delete it within 30 days of your request.
  • Database backups: 14 days.
  • Server logs: up to 30 days.
  • Assistant connections: until you disconnect. Their access tokens expire after an hour and renew for up to 60 days.

Your choices and rights

  • Change your preferences, agenda, home location and connected assistants yourself, any time, in your account.
  • Turn off location access in your browser or phone settings.
  • Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account, by emailing [email protected]. We’ll reply within a month.

You can also object to how we use your data or ask us to restrict it. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Cookies and storage

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. If you’re not signed in, your preferences may be saved in your own browser. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the date above. If the changes are significant, we’ll tell you.
