Look for birds, mammals and reptiles, then switch to plant spotting in the gardens. The playground and fountain terrace give children another reason to pause in this historic green space above Central.
The eastern and western sections connect through a pedestrian subway. Choose a manageable route rather than trying to see every enclosure, and check which areas are open before travelling: the greenhouse closes earlier than the animal sections.
